Georgette and Sadako are to go on a recon patrol north of the base. Hikari is assigned to the patrol as well, as part of her long-distance flight training. However, they encounter a new type of Neuroi, and have to deal with an unexpected threat and the freezing cold of Orussian winter.

An East-Central and Eastern European porridge dish made with buckwheat or other grains, it is often baked or boiled with water or milk. Kasha has been a part of Slavic diets for at least a 1,000 years. In Russia, kasha is a national dish and is often consumed with butter. In fact, there is a saying in Russia that states, "щи да каша – пища наша" (shchi da kasha – pishcha nasha) which translates to "Shchi and kasha are our food."

A traditional Russian soup, shchi is made up of mainly cabbage with meat, mushrooms, flour, and spices as options. Shchi is often consumed with rye bread.
